My New Year’s Resolution was to improve my skin, thus reducing the amount I spend on makeup. I only tend to get breakouts around my period, but the blemishes always scar, which means I have constellations of purple marks on my face. However, I am also a guilty snacker. If I am feeling low or just hungry, I tend to snack on chocolate, cakes or crisps instead of making a proper meal. This is not only bad for my health, but for my skin. I will get breakouts a day or two after I have eaten lots of crap food, and I am getting sick of running out of concealer to cover them!
Starting from this Monday, I began to think through my lunches at college more carefully to avoid snacking whilst I am there. I love sweet potatoes, and they are a great thing to take for lunch, especially when roasted with herbs and other veggies, with rice. As well as this, I whipped up a simple face mask last Sunday to help combat my scarring and skin, and wanted to share the DIY on my blog! (This had better be appreciated though, as getting these photos meant that I had to stand on a chair in my kitchen!)
You will need:
One large/two small ripe avocados
Two tsp pure coconut oil
Two tsp honey (manuka or normal)
One bag of green tea (optional)
Measure out the oil and honey and melt them in the microwave on a low heat for about 30-40 seconds. Cut up the avocados and scoop the fruit out into a bowl.
Mash all of the ingredients together. Pour the contents of the green tea bag, if using, into the mixture at this point. It may look a bit gross, but it will do wonders for your skin!
How to use-
I applied over cleansed and damp skin and left for about twenty to thirty minutes whilst in the bath and my skin felt so soft and less sore afterwards! This makes enough for about two or three masks and will keep in the fridge for a week or so.
