During the Easter holidays, I made a trip up to the Metrocentre for a blogger event at The Body Shop, which I heard about via a North East Blogger Facebook group. It was a drop in event to celebrate the launch of their new Oils of Life Sleeping Cream and Drops of Light Range.
When I arrived, I was treated to a hand massage using their British Rose body scrub, hand cream and mist, which smelt divine and left my hands feeling so soft! I was then taken over to the makeup station where I had my makeup removed with the Chamomile makeup remover which was so gentle and took off my makeup with such ease. For my complimentary facial, I was introduced to the Seaweed range, which is best for combination skin, and the Day Cream was applied all over my face to act as a primer. I have been using L’Occitane skincare but can’t justify the price anymore, so was on the lookout for a new, natural skincare and the Seaweed range ticks all of my boxes!

I was slightly apprehensive about getting all of this treatment done, especially being bare-faced in front of skincare and makeup experts as I feel self conscious about the scarring on my face, but the staff were all so friendly and told me that they envied how clear my skin was- which made me so happy! I was also on the lookout for a new base and adored the one used during my makeover, which is the Fresh Nude Foundation in the shade Bora Bora. It applies so well and doesn’t feel cakey or drying at all. I sometimes get really dry, lizard-like skin on my nose and around my eyebrows but this foundation doesn’t emphasize my dry skin at all and is such a good coverage that I don’t need to worry about concealer!
On my lips, Abbie applied the lip definer pencil in the shade Beech. I have a confession; I never use lip liners EVER. However, I love the colour of this one especially when paired with their lipstick in the shade 350- Golden Syrup, which adds some shimmer and makes me feel like Rosie HW, which can only be a good thing! Similar tones were used on my eyes. The Shimmer Cube 06 is a perfect golden, neutral mini palette of four shadows, which all compliment each other beautifully. To make the tones a bit more sheer for daytime, I use a mist on my brush before applying each shade, to add a more subtle wash of colour. My favourite thing about this eyeshadow quartet is the size and packaging, Lots of eyeshadows have excess packaging, which makes slipping them into your makeup bag more tricky, however this one is small enough to fit into a clutch bag, if you need to top up your makeup throughout the evening!
I haven’t yet tried the samples of the Oils of Life range from my goodybag yet, but they smell incredible- like a spa. I have, however, been using the Drops of Youth lotion every morning and night (gotta start using products to keep me looking young at some point). This product also smells amazing and works so well with the other products in my skincare routine, and I only ever use natural products on my skin anyway so it is perfect!
Thank you to the lovely girls at The Body Shop Metrocentre for having me, they were so easy to talk to that it was like talking to friends, despite never meeting them before! You can follow their Facebook page here, to keep up to date with new events and releases.
