Pink sleeves

A while ago, I saw a dip-dyed striped shirt on an Instagram ad and was desperate for it, but £95 seemed a bit steep for something I knew I could make myself for under £10....
I used a Dylon Dye in Powder Pink, which is only £3, and dyed a £4 Primark top, so the whole project cost £7, which is more than a tenth of the price of the original shirt.

Top- Primark  (original dip dyed shirt)      Jeans- New Look      Shoes- Next     Cap- H&M sold out (similar)

I thought the dyed shirt would look super cute with black jeans, and my pink trainers, to match the pink dip dye. I also added my favourite H&M baker boy cap, partly because it is ALWAYS windy near the coast where I live, and partly because it is really, really cool.
Incase anyone is interested in making a similar shirt; I just mixed the dye according to the instructions on the packet and then submerged the bottom of the shirt and sleeves in the dye mix for 45 minutes. Finally, I rinsed the shirt et voila! I am definitely going to make more of these shirts, since I also have a lavender coloured dye lying around, and am loving how easy these shirts are to style!

I'd love to know what you think of this DIY idea, and if anyone tries it, please tag me on Twitter or Instagram @hollyyolivia

  5. What a great idea to create a dip dyed top yourself and I have to say it looks amazing and so much more expensive. I love your whole outfit, you've styled the top perfectly and that denim jacket is gorgeous! Katie xx
