Saying goodbye to 2016

So, this is my last post of 2016! I was initially planning on doing a whole post of outtakes of blog photos but realised that it was going to take so so long to edit each RAW file individually when they all have different lighting etc.

I know that 2016 hasn't been great for most people, amongst other things, I was deeply saddened by the passing of David Bowie in January, a man who inspired me so much and whose music I have loved for years, but wanted to look at 2016 in a more positive light in this post.

This year, I got a job, gained three Bs in my A-levels, got interviews for university and have grown my blog and social media so much. I really only started taking my blog and social media seriously in April, especially for fashion-related posts and have worked with some incredible brands since then; some of which I never thought would want to work with me! I have also come into myself so much as a person, developed my personal style more and gained so much confidence. I met my best friend Beka in October, bought myself a Kate Spade bag with my Christmas bonus and have spent so much time with my family, which has been lovely.

All that glitters

Last week was pretty good with the work Christmas party, which involved dancing to ABBA, prosecco and lots of good food, and was a lot more enjoyable than I thought it would be. I also got possibly the best Secret Santa present ever, however, this week I am counting down the days until I finish work for Christmas! I'm actually in the apprenticeship academy all week which means that I will (hopefully) finish at 12:30 on Friday ready for Christmas Eve the next day. The festive period is always really busy for my family, with Christmas, my birthday and New Year that it will be nice to have time off work for a much-needed rest.

It is so weird to think that there will only be one more post after this one in 2016, where has the year gone? I also have numerous posts planned out for the New Year, so am hoping to get as much as possible photographed and written whilst I am off work so that I have less to worry about when I am back full-time.

Leopard print loving

This past week has been pretty tiring, to say the least. As much as I do enjoy Winter, with Christmas, my birthday and having a well-deserved rest, leaving for work when it is dark and still being at work when it gets dark feels like my days go so quickly. I can't wait until the evenings start to get lighter again so I can actually have some motivation to do more after work than just sitting around and working on my blog. Another reason why my Christmas break has me all excited is that I will have a lot more time to get content together for my blog, work on my uni portfolio and just sleep!

Nailing the A/W16 trends

Hey, hey! So, December is finally upon us and it is slightly unbelievable. This year has gone so quickly, it is mad to think that a year ago I was prepping for art degree interviews and now am doing something completely different. Despite deciding that I do want to go to uni next year, rather than stay in full-time work, I have had a lot of time to learn more about myself and what I want to do, as well as grow my blog more and earn myself some money!

I really only started adopting a more fashion-based approach to my blog in April, and my photos and content have improved so much since then. Thanks to this, I have had the opportunity to work with fashion brands for the first time including some which I had admired for years and never thought I would get to work with!

Although I love the festive season (it is also my birthday on the 29th!), I am so excited for January so I can go to my Huddersfield interview! I am currently spending time making mood boards for my portfolio, I'll also be taking my laptop along to showcase my blog.
