All that glitters

Last week was pretty good with the work Christmas party, which involved dancing to ABBA, prosecco and lots of good food, and was a lot more enjoyable than I thought it would be. I also got possibly the best Secret Santa present ever, however, this week I am counting down the days until I finish work for Christmas! I'm actually in the apprenticeship academy all week which means that I will (hopefully) finish at 12:30 on Friday ready for Christmas Eve the next day. The festive period is always really busy for my family, with Christmas, my birthday and New Year that it will be nice to have time off work for a much-needed rest.

It is so weird to think that there will only be one more post after this one in 2016, where has the year gone? I also have numerous posts planned out for the New Year, so am hoping to get as much as possible photographed and written whilst I am off work so that I have less to worry about when I am back full-time.

Velvet cami- Handmade by me (similar)      Skirt- StyleWe      Tights, Boots, Choker- Primark     Bag- Kate Spade     Coat- Topshop (sold out, similar)     Earrings- Topshop (not online, similar)     Brooch- Accessorize (not online, similar)

This skirt was sent to me by StyleWe, it is sadly no longer available but you can view their other mini-skirts here. We all know how much I love a mini skirt and the patchwork effect of this one is really unique. I adore the mix of suede and leather effect fabrics with the smaller panels of metallic fabric; it combines so many trends at once and is a piece which I've been after for ages.

I styled it with this velvet cami which I made a couple of months ago. Velvet is obviously one of the key fabrics for A/W and the 90s being in fashion means that camis are everywhere. I made this one from a crushed velvet spandex mix, which gives the top a nicer flow as the fabric is quite light. For added texture and interest, I added a lace trim to the neckline and hem, both styles of lace are quite different styles but still work together within the cami.

As it is the festive season, I had to bring out my new Primark glittery tights, which add so much to an outfit. I adore my fishnets but these glittery tights are so much warmer for Winter and look just as fab; I'll definitely be stocking up on these before they stop being sold! For other accessories, I went with my now beloved Kate Spade Orchard Street Arla bag which fits all my essentials in perfectly and goes with everything I wear. I also wore my black boots, as my silver boots were a bit too much when paired with the glittery tights; even for me! This year, I've discovered a much bigger love for jewellery so I wore my new ring, which is made from a spoon FYI (more on that in another post), star-shaped earrings and a ladybird brooch from Accessorize pinned onto my coat.

Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas, if you celebrate it!
