Saying goodbye to 2016

So, this is my last post of 2016! I was initially planning on doing a whole post of outtakes of blog photos but realised that it was going to take so so long to edit each RAW file individually when they all have different lighting etc.

I know that 2016 hasn't been great for most people, amongst other things, I was deeply saddened by the passing of David Bowie in January, a man who inspired me so much and whose music I have loved for years, but wanted to look at 2016 in a more positive light in this post.

This year, I got a job, gained three Bs in my A-levels, got interviews for university and have grown my blog and social media so much. I really only started taking my blog and social media seriously in April, especially for fashion-related posts and have worked with some incredible brands since then; some of which I never thought would want to work with me! I have also come into myself so much as a person, developed my personal style more and gained so much confidence. I met my best friend Beka in October, bought myself a Kate Spade bag with my Christmas bonus and have spent so much time with my family, which has been lovely.

Coat- Urban Outfitters via Depop (similar)     Dress- C/O Dahlia      Bag- KoKo Couture     Hat- H&M via Depop (similar)     Boots- Charity shop (similar)
I've been loving the Teddy Coats worn by some of my favourite bloggers including Lizzy and Alice, and found this one for a bargain on Depop- AKA my fave app. I love the texture and oversized fit of it as well as the colour; it is such a versatile piece. I wore it with my beloved Dahlia Jade dress, which is no longer available but everything else they do is just as beautiful. With a coat which is so oversized, the pairing of the A-line dress works very well to avoid looking like a big bundle. FYI, there is nothing wrong with looking like a bundle, if that's what you're into then you roll with it.

Winter is still very much upon us, so I've been mainly sticking with my fleece-lined Primark tights to avoid freezing. Within this outfit, I also added some socks with glittery edging to add a bit more interest to the top of the boots. The boots in question were an amazing discovery. I was drawn to them as soon as I saw them in a charity shop window; I love the lace-up detail on the back, the slim shape of them and the block heel. They don't have a label or brand in them but were barely worn when I bought them so were an absolute bargain at £9.60!

If you read my post from a couple of weeks ago, then you will know how much I like the bags from KoKo Couture, so was really excited when I opened another of their products on Christmas day. My sister picked out this slightly massive bag for me and despite it being wider than I am, I adore it! It's a great size for fitting a book in to read on the train; as well as much needed snacks, obvs. To top the outfit off I added my beloved baker boy cap, to keep the look casual and add a 60s vibe.

Hope 2017 is good to you all and thanks for the support this year!

  9. I know, 2016 was not at all what I expected, it was filled with a lot of the unexpected and was overall very emotional, so here's to hoping that 2017 will be a much happier year for us all :) As for your outfit, I love your teddy coat, it looks so cozy and great paired with the rest of the pieces your outfit! Thanks so much for sharing, girlie, and I hope you have a wonderful end to your holiday season!

  11. I agree that 2016 may have been the worst year in some aspects (entertainment, politics and personal) but these are lessons that we all must learn in order to become better people.

You look lovely in this outfit and that coat is divine! If only we have winter where I live I would rock that coat everyday for the entire season. haha!
