Turn and face the strange

Despite last week being incredibly stressful, I am feeling pretty good this week. I left my job last Friday, which was a difficult decision to make but I am confident that I made the right choice. On Tuesday I shot with Alice and then went to The Botanist for a perfume making workshop, which was my mother's day present for my mum. Sadly the day took a sad turn when we got home to find out that one of our beloved chickens had died.

We aren't sure what was wrong with her but have been told that it isn't bird flu, which was our worry. Chickens aren't the most typical pets and I never thought I'd love them as much as I do, but this has hit our whole family really hard, especially since we'd only had Pecky for just over a year.

Writing this the day after Pecky's passing proved quite difficult, I was obviously upset and worried about our other chicken so my mind was easily distracted. If you want to read a bit more about our chickens, then you can see my blog post here.

Hat- Debenhams (similar)   Leather jacket- Oasis (similar)    Dress- Vintage Style Me     Boots- Office     Bag- Cambridge Satchel Company x Vivienne Westwood
The day I shot this outfit proved to not be ideal conditions; Alice texted me when she was on the Metro to let me know that it was snowing (great), and then it was so windy that we risked many Marilyn-moments in order to get the shots. It was also really cold which led to numb hands and hastily retreating to Meet and Treat Cafe for some noodles and to warm up.

Back in November, I ordered a dress from Vintage Style Me, but it was unfortunately lost in the post, it's replacement arrived recently (I was going for Cher from Clueless vibes when I chose it) so couldn't resist shooting it for a post! I love a swishy/ flared/ fluted sleeve, so the sleeves on this are so me, and the fabric it is made from is such a nice quality, and is a lot thicker than I was expecting.

Thinking that Spring had sprung, I opted to wear my leather jacket rather than a warm coat; an oversight on my part, but I love the tartan and leather together, it gives off punk vibes. As per usual with my styling, I added a baker boy cap into my look, this one was a Christmas presents from my parents and I love the grey paired with my red hair, it really makes my hair colour pop.

In terms of other accessories, I wore the only pair of fishnets I had which weren't in the wash, and, yes they do have holes in, but it kinda adds to the punk vibes, no? I also wore my Vivienne Westwood x Cambridge Satchel Company bag for the first time in ages, I love the clash of the print on my dress and that of my bag, as well as the proportions with the oversized smock fit and tiny bag.

On my feet, I wore my new Office boots, which I bought for work, but love enough to wear daily now that I am no longer employed. They have a slight Cowboy/ Western feel to them, with the shape and leather details, and the leather is so so soft and comfortable.
