Keeping it simple

I've worked with Shein a few times now and was asked to work with them again (this was before I decided to primarily stop supporting fast fashion) and to chose two pieces to style (the second post with them will be up in the next few weeks). I've usually been impressed with the dispatch and delivery time for Shein, however this time it took a month from me getting a confirmation of my order, to it actually being dispatched, which is quite a while.

Top | C/O Shein
Jeans | Vintage Levi's
Sunglasses | Quay Australia via TK Maxx
Basket bag | Depop
Shoes | New Look sale (not online)
Socks | Primark

The first piece I chose from Shein is this white Bardot-style top with giant balloon sleeves. I was very overwhelmed when I first tried this on as the sleeves weren't as enormous on the model (always a possible issue when buying online) but I did get used to them after a while. The top is 100% polyester, which isn't my favourite fabric in terms of breathability but it's thin enough to still keep you cool during warm weather. I also found the fabric to be quite scratchy but I think this could be solved by washing the top with fabric softener. I do, however, like the overall look of the top. I especially like the body section, I think it is really flattering and like that there is a separate belt with the top to create more shape around the waist.

I chose to style the top in quite a simple way to let smaller details do the talking so wore some vintage Levi 501s. I love the wash of the denim with the white; it made me feel very summery (even though it was raining when we took these photos). The 501 is also a really flattering style of jean, hence why it has become a cult classic. I chose to roll the bottom of my jeans up to help elongate my legs and draw interest to the ankle.

In terms of accessories, I wore my silver Mary Jane shoes with some fishnet socks, which are a new addition to my sock-drobe(?) and look really cool as an added bit of interest and also stop me getting any blisters. (Pretty and practical!) My basket is from Depop and has been featured on here before but I thought it added to the Summery vibes of the outfit and I loved the colour of the wicker compared with the white and blue. The sunglasses are perhaps my favourite element of the outfit and I picked them up in TK Maxx at the weekend for £12.99 (RRP £40) so I found an absolute bargain and I love how retro and 60s they are.
