man re pell er [mahn-ree-peller]
Outfitting oneself in a sartorially offensive way that will result in repelling members of the opposite sex. Such garments include, but are not limited to harem pants, boyfriend jeans, overalls, shoulder pads, full-length jumpsuits, jewellery that resembles violent weaponry and clogs.

The above quote was taken from one of my favourite books, Man Repeller by Leandra Medine. I have been a huge fan of Leandra for years, I always loved that she dresses for herself rather than caring what anyone (especially men) thought of her, I think it is something we should all do more. If you are going on a date, for example, dress to make yourself feel beautiful/ sexy, not for whoever you're dating to admire; self-confidence is always more attractive!

If a jumper could be the embodiment of man-repelling then it would be this one. I picked it up at a kilo sale in Leeds a couple of weekends ago when my flatmate, Sasha, and I went to Leeds for the day to do some shopping. I was initially drawn to it because let's be honest, it is quite ugly, but there was something which I also liked about it, maybe it's the fact that it looks like a parrot, but I think it is really cool.

Jumper | Vintage Kilo Sale
Skirt | Depop
Hat | TK Maxx
Bag | Beara Beara
Earrings | Night Market in Newcastle
Boots | TK Maxx

The jumper obviously speaks for itself, so didn't require too much styling, which is why I paired it with all black. The skirt is an amazing 70s inspired suede A-line fit, which I got on Depop a couple of months ago and goes so well with all my jumpers and blouses.

In terms of accessories, I obviously had to add a baker boy cap, as it's been far too long since one featured on my blog. This one was a TK Maxx find and is made from cord, so really on-trend for AW17, it is slightly big on my head but I adore how it looks, even if I have to chase after it when it occasionally blows off in the wind.

The bag is my current favourite from Beara Beara and is a really good size for every day, I also love how you can remove the strap and just hold it by the handle; I'm all for versatility with bags. My parents came up to visit a couple of weekends ago and very kindly bought me these boots from TK Maxx. They have a chunky heel and a zip detail on the front which reminds me of the dreamy Maje boots I saw on Megan Ellaby last year. I've already worn these boots a lot, and they look equally as good with skirts or with my cropped kick flare jeans.
